The first traces of Petrini mill appear at the end of ‘700. The official registration in the local books indicates a Mill owned by Petrini family located in “contrada” “Le Basse”Bastia Umbra (Perugia): mill “a tre macine a valchiera”. The old and rudimental mill was located on the river Chiasco. The water moved the shovels of a big wheel, producing the mechanic energy needed to activate the stone grinders.

At the beginning of ‘900 the old wheel with shovels was replaced with a big turbine that transformed the hydro energy into electric energy. The electric central, one of the first in Italy, furnished the energy also to the communities around the terrority, Bastia included. Using the bronze dies, Spigadoro pasta is rough on the surface to hold better the sauces. For this reason Spigadoro is part of the very restricted “Great Italian Pasta Club”.  The umbrian heritage is important for the company: it means keeping a privileged lationship with the environment and the social culture that respects the earth and its products. During the evolution of the life and nutritional styles, Spigadoro, maintaining always an high quality, continue to satisfy a continuous increasing number of consumers. Today Spigadoro pasta is exported in over 60 countries all over the world.
